The ZR-96 DNA Clean-up Kit™ employs a single-buffer system that allows for efficient DNA adsorption of up to 96 samples onto the matrix of the supplied Silicon-A™ Plate. The DNA is washed twice then eluted with a small volume of water into a 96-well Elution Plate. The entire DNA purification/concentration procedure typically takes about 20 minutes.

This DNA standard is designed to have the same microbial composition with the cellular version, the ZymoBIOMICS Microbial Community Standard, so that they can be more powerful when working in tandem.

There is no need for glass beads, phenol, or vortexing. Instead, plasmid DNA is reliably recovered from yeast cells whether colonies, patches on plates, or liquid cultures are sampled. Plasmid yields are typically between 0.01-0.3 ng for most 2 based plasmids from 1.5 ml overnight cultures. This kit also works well with low copy number yeast plasmids. Recovered plasmid DNA is in TE buffer and can be used for E. coli transformation, Western blotting, PCR, etc.

This kit provides a convenient and rapid method to isolate total DNA from fresh, frozen and preserved stool samples, including those preserved using Norgen’s Stool Nucleic Acid Collection and Preservation Tubes (Cat. 45660). The universal protocol conveniently allows for the isolation of total genomic DNA from all the various microorganisms and host cells found in the stool sample simultaneously. The kit removes all traces of humic acids and other inhibitors using a combination of chemical and physical homogenization and lysis. A simple and rapid spin column procedure is then used to further purify the DNA with high yields and molecular weights of up to 50 kb plus. The purified DNA is of the highest quality and is fully compatible with all downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, Sequencing and microarrays since all humic acid substances and other PCR inhibitors are removed during the isolation process.
